ENDOCRINOLOGIST

Dr Goergia Soldatos
MBBS, FRACP

I completed my MBBS with first class honours in 1997 and obtained the highest aggregate mark in the year. I went on to do my intern and residency years within the Southern Health Care Network. I commenced advanced training in Endocrinology in 2002 and spent my first clinical year at the Alfred Hospital. This was followed by a year split between the Monash Medical Centre and Dandenong Hospital. In 2004, I enrolled in a PhD through the Department of Medicine at Monash University. I am currently investigating the role of advanced glycation end products in diabetic vascular disease and hope to complete my thesis by the start of next year.

During the course of my PhD, I have maintained an affiliation with both the Alfred hospitals and Monash Medical Centre. I regularly consult in the Diabetic Crises Clinic as well as the Young Adolescent Diabetes Service of the Southern Health Care Network. While I enjoy managing the multiple and often complex problems associated with diabetes, I also have a strong interest in general endocrinology, particularly thyroid disorders.

I am an enthusiastic, young endocrinologist who thrives on the challenges of clinical medicine and am fluent in Greek for those patients who are non-English speaking.
